Nicholas Rogers – Long Forgotten

Remember him? I hardly can recognise him until two days ago when I suddenly remembered another of my childhood movie that I love. I remembered watching The Cave of The Golden Rose or originally known as Fantaghiro when I was 9 or 10 years old. I would stay up late until midnight just to catch the series. It was a very long series and yet I never fail to keep up with the episodes.
It has been more than a decade and suddenly the memories are coming back to me. First, there was Cinderella and now The Cave of The Golden Rose. As I dig up more information, I realised that I used to fancy the character, Tarabas. Tarabas is played by none other than Nicholas Rogers, which is the man in the picture. Isn’t he exotic and mysterious?
I am so addicted to Fantaghiro series and now I am watching YouTube videos. A YouTube user has uploaded the first movie, into smaller parts and thank god it is in English rather than Italian or Dutch or any other language.
You can watch the first movie in English by visiting YouTube.
* I will talk more about Fantaghiro soon
Harry Potter, More Harry Potter and Cinderella?
Alright, this is my special confession of my addiction since the past few weeks. First of all, of course I am so addicted to Harry Potter and so I read The Deadly Hallows and now I am reading the first four books. The reason why I love Harry Potter is so obvious. Harry Potter is the sensation of the world and naturally, seven years ago, when I was first introduced to Harry Potter books, I was immediately hooked on to it. The books are not cheap but for the sake of my addiction, I forked out a few hundreds just to buy them all.

“Love this”
Now, I am going to confess about another story that has been part of my life since I was nine years old.
Do you remember the story of Cinderella and how it always begin with,
“Once Upon A Time…”
Yes, I am addicted to Cinderella. My childhood fairy tale is coming back to haunt me and the result is I am addicted again to the fairy tale. So what can I do about it? I have already known the story so I just need to have something else to remind me about it and what’s better than a movie?
Actually, not just one movie but I have three movies in line waiting for me to watch and enjoy.
I will explain more detail about each movie because I simply love all of them…
1. Cinderella Cartoon Movie – originally released in 1950

I love this cartoon very much. It is the original Walt Disney animation that captures my heart.
My very first Cinderella book is based on this movie, everything is the same because there are pictures in it and after so many years, now only I can remember how I love the book so much.
2. Cinderella 1997 – featuring Whitney Houston and Brandy

Who doesn’t like a Cinderella movie and with a modern touch of Walt Disney comes Cinderella version 1997 starring Whitney Houston and Brandy. Sometimes, when I think about this movie, I often ask myself why there are so many Cinderella version and I guess we need to have faith in our dreams as in “a dream is a wish your heart makes”…
3. Ever After: A Cinderella Story (1998)

Now, this is by far the most romantic Cinderella movie. I love Drew Barrymore in this movie, she is such an excellent actress. I kind of miss her acting, seems like she is busy with something else now. Got to love the dresses in the movie because they are all so grand and princessy.
Drew Barrymore : Danielle De Barbarac
Douglas Scott : Prince Henry

A Cinderella Story in 2004 is another Cinderella themed movie with Hilary Duff and Chad Michael Murray being portrayed as the modern day ‘Cinderella’ and ‘Prince Charming’.
Not to say I hate A Cinderella Story (2004) but I prefer the above mentioned three Cinderella movies more.
Inspiration Coming My Way..
I have been losing touch of poetry and short stories. These two are the elements of my life ever since I was a kid but today, I feel that I no longer have the childish attitude to keep on dreaming of the dreams and wishes I have a long time ago. That was until I found KemalPoems, a site that features all sorts of poems from Love Poems to dedicated poems such as Cat Poems. Most of the poems are modern poems.
Surprisingly, this site has brought back all my memories when I used to write poetry in my room. Reading his poetry reflects my life being as a writer. I have been dreaming of becoming a writer and an author but until today, I haven’t achieve any progress in becoming an author.
When I came across this site, I realised that I too can do such a wonderful thing. I have many poems to be released just like Kemal Faruquee, the author of Naive Lip and The Uptake of the Disappointment Concept. If you have no idea who this wonderful author is, check out his site at kemalpoems.com. Perhaps I should do something like he does as well.
You should read his love poems. It is simple but the meaning is deep and only those who appreciate poetry as much as his life would be able to understand. I love The Kiss. This poem reminds me of my first kiss when I was 18 years old with my one and only love. I am glad to say this poem brought back those good old times when I was in the dating phase. Kemal has a very interesting perspective in describing love in his poems and I guess you will just have to read it to find out his talent.
Heck, I can’t believe that he is writing poems about cats. I love cats. I love dogs as well. Sometimes, I wonder if cats and dogs can live together peacefully but perhaps we just need to have a little faith in believing that cats and dogs can be best friends. Cat On The Table describes a cat’s behaviour in the most simple way. Just have to love it. You can’t deny that Kemal is a very talented poet. There are more cat poems that I can’t wait to enjoy.
After reading his works, I guess I have better work on mine. He has become an inspiration for me to pursue my dream of writing poetry.
High School Musical 3 : Senior Year
I was striked with addiction when I first watched the High School Musical 1 so automatically I would watch High School Musical 2. Now I am awaiting High School Musical 3.
I love Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron but I am not so sure with their relationship. It can be on-off relationship but of course I am sure the fans would want them to be together. What I can expect is that there might be some troubles with celebrities relationships as this is proven to be true for a long time. Celeb A hooked up with Celeb B and after a while they broke up and then perhaps there will be Celeb C and Celeb D in the picture. It is a complicated world.
Anyway, about HSM 3:
The plot – As seniors in high school ,Troy and Gabriella struggle with the idea of being separated from one another as college approaches. Along with the rest of the Wildcats, they stage a spring musical to address their experiences, hopes and fears about their future.
I like the plot. This is the normal teenage life and there is a time you meet and separate. For example, I used to have a best friend known as Mary and years later, I got separated from her because she has moved to another state far away from me. Surprisingly, I got in touch with her again after I saw her Friendster page. What a world…
Let’s hope that HSM 3 would be excellent…
Update 17/07/09: Until today, I still haven’t watch this movie yet. *Sigh* Lose interest..
Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows

Finally, I have finished reading the book. I am quite disappointed actually with the last installment. The truth is I still find that only the first four books really captured me. The last three books have been slightly boring maybe because they have lost the childish sense. Things are getting more serious and darker.
However, I like the ending where Voldemort is defeated but I hate the fact that so many people have to die. Why? Perhaps I am being sentimental but I hate stories with so many deaths in it.
It hurts me when Dumbledore died in the The Half Blood Prince but then Snape has to follow in Deathly Hallows. Then Lupin and Tonks, and Fred and even Colin Creevey, the little guy?
It is a relieved that no more Harry Potter series as it would be a nightmare to have continuous stories about Harry Potter.
More Harry Potter thoughts in the coming weeks.
